PCNet Hosts Batuta Youth Orchestra of the Amazon
October 9, 2014 – On September 25, PCNet, Inc. in conjunction with its division Corserva, and in partnership with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando, welcomed clients, business and community leaders to its 70,000 sqft facility in Orlando for a special reception and presentation of the Batuta Youth Orchestra of the Amazon (Batuta). As a non-profit organization, Batuta focuses on aiding vulnerable populations by promoting musical expression to poor families, internal refugees, and indigenous groups in Colombia. Through cultural enriching experiences this organization is able to keep children from substance abuse, drug trafficking and prostitution.
The evening featured an opening performance from three young students from our local Gift for Music organization followed by a private concert from Batuta as a preview to their community presentation “Tocando Por Un Sueño” (Playing for a Dream) held on September 27. As the premiere sponsor of their first US Tour, PCNet / Corserva was critical in providing funds to cover the transportation, lodging, and logistical costs of 22 children between the ages of seven and 19 traveling from the Amazon region of Leticia in Colombia. Additionally, the event included a raffle featuring several electronic devices. This additional funding complemented our sponsorship to purchase new instruments to benefit the over 700 students who participate in Batuta’s musical education programming in the Amazon region.
